Our Team

At KOA - Karearea Outdoor Adventures, our team is the heart of what we do. Each staff member is carefully selected for their expertise, passion for the outdoors, and commitment to the safety and wellbeing of tamariki.

All members of the KOA team are police-vetted and trained in first aid, ensuring they are equipped to provide a safe and supportive experience for all participants. With a shared dedication to fostering growth, resilience, and adventure, our team creates an environment where tamariki can thrive while exploring the wonders of the natural world.

Kieran Kruger

Kieran’s passion for the outdoors began with a childhood immersed in hunting, fishing, and spending time at the beach. This fostered a deep respect for the environment. As a registered and practicing primary school teacher, qualified surf lifeguard, and former commercial diver, Kieran combines experience in education, safety, and outdoor skills. His expertise and enthusiasm inspire others to develop resilience, adventure, and a love for the natural world, making him dedicated to empowering tamariki through the outdoors.

Hannah Kitchin

Hannah Kitchin is a Clinical Psychologist with a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Hannah supports Kieran to select and create "mindfulness moment" exercises for tamariki. The goal of which is to help children build emotional awareness and resilience, while connecting with the natural environment.
